The ultimate sacrifice

Violence assualts our minds
Brains twisted by fear-drinking media
We are left as mediocre shells
Accepting this reality's theft of our emotions

Innocence and trust are illusions
Shattered by the news reporters' lethal microphones
Bullets of paranoia dissolve any hope
Nothing comes as a shock in this age of fatal technology

Bu as we lose our sympathy
Others lose their lives
When we're left as insensitive skeletons
Children half a planet away are left as orphans

We're drowning our empathy in obeisety
As others starve away to nothingness
Fuel to power our fast paced lives
Is invading another's chances of peace

Bombs explode and heads are shaken
But those who live as the third-world citizens only wonder who's next
Peace is just a memory - a dream
The day is served with a super-sized portion of pain and despair

Normal life should not include fear of an enemy's explosions
Death by cause of man should not be an accepted occurance
Peace should be the new norm
And numbness ought give way to sincerity

May tears be shed across the globe for those who have paid the price
Aide be sent to those who perished for sake of balance
No end of grief and thanks for those who could not be saved
Those who were doomed to make the ultimate sacrifice
